know that you have already committed to it; you might as well make it as enjoyable as possible. Many of my clients use negative consequences as a last-ditch effort to commit to the schedule of working out. They send me an email every time they work out and every time they hit their workout baseline. They develop a sense of accountability by giving me their word that they will make it happen. They want to avoid the feeling of not keeping a promise, so they get it done. I say, do whatever works for you. Never underestimate the power of getting someone to part- ner with you. Trainers and coaches can be an awesome tool. They can help you set high standards, break through excuses, and make you commit to a time and place. I have had various trainers and each time I hire one, they push me beyond what I am capa- ble of in my own mind (I actually pay him to specifically do this for me!). Then, I do what he says without question because I don’t want to waste my investment. Every little bit of bribery helps.
