of knowing that reality is exactly what reality is sup- posed to be. It feels free and light. There is no argument against it. There is no negative emotion about it. It just is. Many people think this might put you into a place where you won’t take action. By finding acceptance, you won’t try to make anything better or change any- thing. The opposite is actually true. Instead of fighting reality, you can accept reality and work with it instead of against it. You can acknowledge what you believe to be true, and from there, you can change it. It doesn’t need to feel forced or contrived. It is like yielding and moving into line with life so you can direct yourself to your dreams. So many times clients tell me they were bad because they ate a cookie or they shouldn’t have skipped an exercise. I tell them to look at the situation from the compassionate-observer perspective. What is going on there? From this perspective, they can take out the judgment and understand that they ate due to a belief that they were unloved and that it’s okay. From here, we can turn that belief around. They can notice that they didn’t work out because they felt it would be self- ish to make the time for themselves. Interesting.
