Exercise Tool #4 Know the Health Benefits/Risks For some reason, we are not motivated to exercise for our health. We have all heard the statistics about dis- ease and obesity and exercise and prevention. Yet, this doesn’t seem to motivate us to work out. Again, when I ask my clients if they would exercise daily for 500k, they say of course they would. When I ask them if they would trade their health for the same amount, they say no way! Yet, they won’t exercise for health. It is baffling. It is evidence of how low many of us put our own well-being on the our to-do list. The most effective thing we can do to prevent disease is to exer- cise and eat fuel. But exercise is usually the first thing to be eliminated from a busy day, over soccer practice, the dentist, and birthday parties! I am going to list many of the health benefits to exer- cising and the health risks if you don’t exercise. You still may be motivated only by the size of your jeans, but I think it is worth mentioning what it can do for your physical and emotional life. It can be the physi- cal manifestation of how you feel about yourself and your time on this planet. Without your health, you have nothing.
