Until you apply it, by taking action, it has very little value in your life. Learn the tool, apply it, and practice it, then learn another. Apply each tool as soon as possible after learning it so you can start to make it a habit in your life. It may feel awkward at first because it’s new, but after some consistent application and practice it will begin to feel natural. When you have completed this book, your tool belt will be full. With your true self and a few tools, there is nothing you can’t handle. This book answers the question on the front cover: Why can’t I lose weight? Then, it gives you the tools to use your smarts in order to lose weight for good. I am not a doctor, a personal trainer, a therapist, or a nutri- tionist. I have borrowed from all these professions in developing this coaching practice, but I do not pretend to have their schooling or smarts. In fact, I have coached many clients in these profes- sions who are very smart, but they have not been able to lose the weight. Sometimes, too much knowledge and being too smart intellectually can blind you from the internal wisdom and your inner guide.
