Self-Care Tool #6 Do What You Genuinely Want Long-Term, Not What You Feel Like Doing Right Now When you are first replacing belief systems, it’s often necessary to separate what you “feel like” from what you “really want.” Feelings, at this point, may be stem- ming from the negative belief systems. So, even though you need to acknowledge them, you don’t always want to react to them at this point. Instead, you must decide what you really want and why. For example, one afternoon you feel like sitting on the couch and not going into the gym. You just feel like relaxing. (This feeling may be coming from a belief that you are lazy.) It’s at this point you have to remem- ber why you want to exercise. Bring up all the reasons and remember that you want to work out even though you don’t feel like it. Don’t confuse how you feel in the moment with what you want in the moment. In this way, you aren’t doing something you don’t want to do, so there is no forcing anything. You just acknowledge that you are feeling low on energy, but you want to work out to achieve a greater goal. Then, you go and get it done. QaXe MoD1sel+ \1oDC by PaXing Ca1e ! A62
