Self-Care Tool #4 Give Yourself a Time Out for Being Mean I have a pre-work questionnaire that I have all my clients fill out before I’ll start coaching them. On it, I ask them to describe themselves and how they look physically. You may not be surprised to hear that the descriptions are filled with judgment and cruel words. “I have an ugly face and a disgusting stomach.” Or, “My butt is so huge and gross I am afraid to walk outside.” Would you ever allow someone to speak to you this way? Would you allow your child to speak to a friend in this manner? No way. We are always disciplining little kids when they are mean to each other. Now, it’s your turn. My clients know that if they are going to be mean to themselves, they are required to put themselves in a time out. It is really time to put your foot down with yourself. Any time you catch yourself being mean or saying some- thing that is unkind, stop immediately. Let yourself know this kind of talk is not acceptable. Being mean will NOT be tolerated anymore. It stops today. As of this moment, everything negative you say to yourself needs to change. QaXe MoD1sel+ \1oDC by PaXing Ca1e ! A56
