Future Tool #8 You Must Keep Moving Forward Because There Is No Going Back Many of us who have weight issues are all-or-nothing thinkers. We go on a diet, then blow it and give up on the whole thing. We start exercising and miss a day, then we return to how we used to be. This is the only difference between those who succeed and those who fail. Those who succeed just keep moving forward. They keep going toward their goal NO MATTER WHAT. Every time you make a mistake and keep moving for- ward toward your goal anyway, you become stronger. Anytime an unexpected obstacle gets in your way, you have an opportunity to grow. You overeat at one meal, the very next meal you get back on track without judg- ment or anxiety. You will not win every single time. This is not about being perfect or doing it just right, this is about progress and moving forward. I love to use the mountain metaphor when talking about the journey to weight loss. We all start at the bot- tom of the mountain and see it looming up before us. It seems daunting and difficult.
