The best way I know how to accomplish this is to act “as if.” How would you act if you really believed this? If you really believed you were worthy, how would you act? Many times, my clients say they would feel less stressed, they wouldn’t have to try so hard to make other people like them, they would go after the raise, they would talk to the guy, and they would start writing their book. What’s better is they realize that if those things didn’t work out, they would still know they were worthy. The event wouldn’t cause them to change their mind. As a coach, this is a very exciting process to watch. I am always filled with excitement when a client takes a risk and it doesn’t turn out the way they wanted, but they come to the session and feel proud of themselves for having tried. The magical thing about this process is that it takes them to a place of power. If they believe that they will never struggle with their weight again 122 • If IAm So Smart, Why Can’t I Lose Weight?
